Katie Collins wins "Rising Star" award at the Sabaoth International Film Festival in Milan, Italy

Tampa, FL, November 19, 2006: Katie Collins, the 9 year old writer and director of “Unexpected News” wins the Rising Star award at the 2nd Sabaoth International Film Festival in Milan Italy.

The award was presented in front of close to 2,000 screaming people during the Grand Gala at the 4th Sabaoth Festival of Music on November 18, 2006. Miss Collins is the youngest director to enter a film in the festival.

“Unexpected News”, is the story of the friendship of two young girls whose relationship is torn apart when one has to move to Chicago with her family. Miss Collins wrote the script, created the 111 storyboards, and directed the film over a period of 30 days.

In October, Miss Collins was awarded the “Best Children’s Movie” award at WYSIWYG Film Festival in San Francisco.

Also, winning awards that night were: Father – USA (Short Narrative) , Stories of Hope – New Zealand (Short Documentary), Paper – Italy (Animation), Il Vento Soffia Dove Vuole - Italy (Student/First Film), End of the Spear – USA (Full Length Narrative), Robber of the Cruel Streets – UK (Full Length Narrative) and Faith Like Potatoes – South Africa (People’s Choice Award).
